Ology Studios retro landing page: a 2003 Windows desktop with a browser window welcoming visitors and an UPDATE THE WEBSITE button

/ Overview

We built Ology Studios a website that opens as a 2003-style Windows page and transforms into their modern brand site at the click of Update, proving 'designing brands that never stop evolving' instead of just saying it.Ology Studios is a Melbourne and Delhi brand and design studio that grew out of the packaging company Boxology. We built ologystudios.co with Next.js, React and Tailwind, pairing the retro-to-modern reveal with scroll-driven motion, a start-a-project form and team applications that route to email, Google Sheets and Notion.

/ Challenge

Ology Studios sells brand identity and packaging to founders, and its tagline is 'designing brands that never stop evolving'. A standard studio website would only describe that idea, and look like every other agency. They wanted a site that proves it: memorable at first glance, full of personality, honest about the studio's roots in Boxology, and clear about how to start a project.

/ Solution

The site opens as a 2003-style Windows desktop with a working retro browser, complete with About, Clients and Contact pages and a note that it was last updated 21 years ago. One click on Update the Website reveals the modern brand site, the studio's evolution made literal. The modern site flows through scroll-driven sections: services, the Boxology origin story, principles, the five-step process, clients and team. Returning visitors skip the retro intro, and the start-a-project form routes enquiries to the studio.
